Our Impact

Championing positive change in Poleglass

Everyone deserves dignity, respect, and a place to belong. That’s what community is all about and what Sally Gardens is here to deliver.

We’re a grassroots organisation delivering frontline support for over two decades. From health and wellbeing to employability, regeneration programmes, and youth services, we’re here to make life better for people of all ages in Poleglass and the wider Community area.

Why our work is vital

We’re based in one of Northern Ireland’s most disadvantaged areas, where:

  • Over one-third of residents are under 16
  • Mental-health pressures are above the NI average
  • Local people face poorer health and social outcomes
  • We’re the only community hub in the area
  • Demand for support in the area is rising

How we make a difference

At Sally Gardens, we support people in many ways, from day-to-day work with residents at the centre to partnering with local organisations to create positive change.

Our approach

  • Direct engagement: We meet residents where they are, building trust with people facing mental health challenges, unemployment, low skills, and isolation.
  • Holistic support: We help people get back on track and feel more confident through wellbeing services, skills and training, and therapeutic classes.
  • Community empowerment: We work with residents to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour, improve neighbourhoods, and drive positive change.
  • Frontline presence: As a community-based organisation, we’re rooted in the area, we understand local challenges, and provide support where it’s needed most.
  • Impact-focused: Everything we do is about improving lives and strengthening people’s sense of purpose, hope and belonging.

What Sally Gardens means to people

Looking ahead

We’ve been supporting Poleglass and the wider Colin area for more than 20 years now but in many ways we’re just getting started.

Over the next few years, we hope to continue expanding our services, developing and launching new programmes and strengthening our local partnerships to meet the growing needs of our community.

Together we’re building a stronger, healthier, happier Poleglass.
